Program description
TradesAI provides an AI receptionist that sends and receives text messages on behalf of small trade businesses (plumbers, electricians, HVAC technicians, roofers, and similar tradespeople) when their phone calls go unanswered. The program is operated by TradesAI on aitradesjob.com.
When a customer calls a tradesperson's TradesAI-provisioned phone number and the call is not answered, the call is forwarded to TradesAI. The customer hears an automated voice prompt and may choose to receive a follow-up text from us so we can help them schedule service.
Opt-in: how customers consent to receive SMS
Consent is collected by an explicit, deliberate action. The automated voice prompt the customer hears is:
"Hi, thanks for calling [business name]. We're currently unavailable. Press 2 if you'd like us to text you so we can help schedule your service. Otherwise, please leave a message after the beep."
Pressing 2 on the phone keypad is the customer's affirmative opt-in. Until the customer presses 2, we do not send any text messages to that phone number. No box is pre-checked, and no consent is bundled with another action.
After opt-in, the first message the customer receives looks like:
"Hi! This is [business name]. Thanks for calling — how can we help? You can describe what you need, or book a time directly: aitradesjob.com/book/[business-slug]"
Sample messages
Subsequent messages from our AI receptionist are conversational and short. Examples:
- "Sounds like a clogged kitchen drain — has it been backing up for long?"
- "Got it. What's your name so I can pass this along?"
- "Thanks, Sarah. Pick a time that works for you: aitradesjob.com/book/joes-plumbing?t=A8b3kL2"
Message frequency
Message frequency varies by conversation. A typical service inquiry involves 2 to 6 messages from the time the customer opts in until they either book a time or stop replying. We do not send marketing or promotional messages outside the scope of the customer's active inquiry.
Carriers and rates
Message and data rates may apply. The TradesAI program is supported on most major U.S. carriers including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, US Cellular, Sprint, MetroPCS, Boost Mobile, and Cricket Wireless. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Opt-out: how to stop messages
You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message from us. After you reply STOP, you will receive one final confirmation message and no further texts will be sent. To opt back in, reply START or call the business again and press 2 from the voice menu.

Privacy
We will not share your phone number with third parties for their marketing purposes. SMS conversation content is stored to give the tradesperson context about your inquiry and to improve our AI's responses. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, or have permission from a parent or legal guardian, to use this messaging program. The program is available only to phone numbers within the United States.
